We are committed to providing a practical and research-based learning experience that prepares our students for successful careers in veterinary medicine. We believe this hands-on approach is crucial for developing the communication, knowledge, and skills needed to become exceptional veterinarians.

Welcome to the Department of Veterinary Science at Mattu University! Since it is newly established field of study in 2023, we've been dedicated to training the next generation of veterinarians equipped to serve Ethiopia's animal health needs.

Our Impact:

  • 30 passionate third-year students and 61 dedicated first-year students are currently enrolled in our program.
  • Our faculty of 4 dedicated assistant professors provides a personalized learning experience.
  • We offer a comprehensive curriculum with 59 courses covering 148 credit hours.

By 2030, we aim to be among the top 5 leading veterinary science departments in Ethiopia, recognized for:
